Is it easier to redesign a Web site than to start
from scratch?
IT DEPENDS. If the makeover is transitional,
it requires that we wrestle with old code, architecture,
navigation and file structure, extract the content
and apply it to a redesign... kind of like a Vulcan
mind meld if you remember the Star Trek episode.
If it's a complete makeover it's a bit easier.
The makeover process can be nerve-wracking, especially
if the site was built using a code generator that
generates ugly, unintelligible code. In those
cases we just strip away the content and start
from scratch.
